Introduction
We spend hundreds of hours researching the best HR and recruiting software so you don’t have to. We never take money from vendors during our research phase and rely heavily on practitioners and experts to help us recommend the right software. However we may earn a small fee if you click on vendor links on this page.
Teamtailor particularly stands out for its career site builder. Yes, many ATSs have this, but it’s an afterthought feature for the majority of them. The case is different for Teamtailor as their career site builder was one of the original core features that the rest of the platform was built around.

PROS
- Teamtailor’s ATS comes with a robust career site builder that’s also easy to use. It works with drag and drop - no coding knowledge necessary.
- Teamtailor backs several features that support diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI), including anonymous hiring, equal employment opportunity (EEO) surveys, etc..
- Teamtailor is highly rated for their ease-of-use. It’s quite simple to post and promote jobs through their platform.
- There is really in-depth and intuitive help documentation for this solution
CONS
- Teamtailor’s analytics are good, but enterprise clients need to use BI Connectors to build the reporting they need. Right now, you can’t sport data from the system. This is particularly important for companies with 500+ employees, or those who have many different locations or franchises.
- Analytics doesn’t allow recruiters to see their cost per hire, which is a really impactful metric
- While they offer integrations with HRIS, onboarding, etc - they have focused on just being a really good ATS now.
- There are predefined user access levels, but you cannot define your own user access levels which is important, especially for the largest companies.

Teamtailor is an applicant tracking system with great employer branding features built-in. One of its powerful features is the career site builder. Talent acquisition teams can build their own site without needing help from IT and marketing. This means TA is more in charge of their employer brand. This is a customizable site that relies on basic building blocks to make it easy to add calls to action, infographics, social wedges, and more.
As the product starts to service larger and larger companies, there is more functionality around customizing stages in the ring process, as well as filtering so that you can find the jobs and candidates that are most relevant to what you’re working on currently.
They also have a nurture feature for candidates that aren’t ready to apply. These are basically marketing campaigns, but for your candidates. For example, you may want to keep silver medalists warm for future hiring.
From a recruiter perspective, I can see my entire pipeline in analytics, along with stats around how long candidates have been in my pipeline, how fast I am to respond to candidates, etc.
In the candidate database, we have a list of all candidates along with their status, rating, and last activity. I can also filter by source, application status, what team they are interviewing for, their ratings, location, etc. I can then save a filter as a segment so that in the future I can quickly see people who meet the criteria I’m looking for (Boston-based Javascript engineers with a 4-star and above rating).
Overall, we think Teamtailor is a really good ATS, suitable for mid-sized companies looking to attract and convert the right talent.
Teamtailor is not a good fit for small companies and startups looking to start small, then scale their software instance as they grow and have more cash flow.
Teamtailor is used by over 4000 organizations, including Kry, Goodbye Kansas, Vitamin Well, Ponsse, and Daniel Wellington.
- Candidate sourcing: Job posting on multiple free and paid job boards, personalized dashboards, customizable application forms and recruiting funnel, candidate search with filters, one-click candidate sourcing via a chrome extension, and employee referrals
- Candidate screening: Interview scheduling, scorecards for candidate evaluation, blind evaluations to eliminate discriminatory hiring practices, internal chat and notes for collaborative hiring, triggers for process automation, and analytics.
- Candidate experience: Net Promoter Score (NPS) surveys, email, SMS, and instant chat candidate communication options.
- Employer branding: Customizable career site, campaign pages, lead pages, and application forms.
- Mobile app: On-the-go access to manage jobs, add notes, communicate with candidates, submit ratings, and more.
Teamtailor has partnered with several job boards, social media sites/apps, onboarding tools, HRISs, candidate assessment tools, and more so users are able to quickly connect their Teamtailor instance with products already in their HR tech stack. Some familiar names include LinkedIn, DocuSign, Bamboo HR, Gusto, Checkr, and HackerRank.
Teamtailor’s pricing starts at £2750 for companies with 1-25 employees, which is about par for the course as far as applicant tracking system pricing for smaller businesses goes. This includes unlimited job postings, candidates and user access to the system. You can get in touch with Teamtailor’s sales team to get an estimate according to your business size and needs.
Teamtailor used to be a tool for smaller companies, but now their solution is catering mostly towards 50-400 employee companies that need a powerful but simple ATS.

Here are some important things to keep in mind should you go through with purchasing Teamtailor:
- Customers on average need about 30 days to fully set up their Teamtailor instance. Some customers have gone live in a week, and larger companies take as long as three months.
- A big and important part of Teamtailor’s setup is to correctly define the settings for your company account - creating locations, departments, employee invite templates, access levels, etc.
- Getting your career site built and set up is a big hurdle as well, however, Teamtailor does provide training materials and services to help customers get their sites up and running as quickly as possible.
Teamtailor has a knowledge base with plenty of articles for customers to self-serve. If further help is needed, customers can reach out to Teamtailor’s support team via live chat, phone, and email. Dedicated account managers are assigned to high-spend customers.
Teamtailor was founded by Erik Andersson, David Wennergren and Richard Tifelt in 2013. The three of them had previously worked together across several projects, and realized there really wasn’t a candidate-focused recruiting suite. The original philosophy was all about the candidate, which also just so happens to make it very easy for companies to attract and recruit the best people.
A secondary, but very important priority for them was ensuring that Teamtailor is as user-friendly as possible so recruiters, employees, and hiring managers can get the most value out of it. Today, Teamtailor is now almost a decade old, used by 4,500 companies across different verticals.
