  • Simplicity and ease of use: With free LMS, you often compromise on advanced features, but the platform should still be intuitive and easy for admins, instructors, and learners. We favored options with clean, uncluttered interfaces, drag-and-drop course builders, and straightforward workflows.

We love how easy it is to obtain Connecteam's free LMS. You don’t need to input your credit card information—just your email address and phone number will do. 

After finishing the signup, you'll be taken to a dashboard that we trust you’ll like. It’s intuitive and clear. More importantly, it gives you access to Course and many other handy tools for your day-to-day operations, from time off to recognition and rewards, job scheduling, communications, and surveys—all free.

We tested Connecteam as a course creator and learner and found it easy to use on both ends. You can make as many courses as you need as an admin and organize them however you want. The variety of course materials is also awesome. You can add links, YouTube videos, PDFs, audio, and even quizzes to make sure your team fully gets what they’ve learned.

Plus, you can break the courses into sections to make them easier to digest. One of our favorite features is the short survey at the end of the course—it truly is a good help for feedback gathering and training content evaluations.

From learner perspectives, the free LMS platform impressed us with a UI that works well regardless of the device.

To be clear, though, Connecteam doesn’t have an extensive ready-made course library like Coggno or LinkedIn. Instead, it gives you the freedom to create your own training content, and its free version is only for those with ten users at max.

Integration-wise, unlike SafetyCulture (EdApp), Connecteam doesn’t offer its API access for free, while its native integrations are limited to very few payroll apps.

CONS

  • The platform frequently rolls out updates, which is a good thing but you do have to frequently learn how to use features.
  • You have to compress large videos because of the platform’s 10 MB video size limit.
  • The analytics is slow at times, especially when exporting data to CSV.
  • You always have to learn new ways to use the app as they release updates frequently.
  • EdApp’s video limit is only 10 MB. This means you will have to shrink high-sized videos which, subsequently, reduces the quality of your videos.
  • Some users complain about the analytics feature. It is usually slow and it sometimes takes a long time to pull out data into a CSV file.

Certain training sessions were given during onboarding, and thus, apart from regular training, whenever a new hire joined us, TalentLMS was used. Once we incorporated the training into the onboarding process, it became really easy for the new hires and HR team to complete the training on time. It was straightforward and easy to use. Additionally, the dashboard, once logged in, provides a quick view for the employee to understand which training is required to be completed. The feature of sending bulk reminders was very useful.

What do you like about this tool?

The employees were able to complete the training at their convenience. The bulk reminders were very helpful. The instructor can create textual or video-based learning. It has been designed very well when it comes to the examination section. There are various options for the types of questions, such as multiple choice, text, drag and match, etc. Even in text, it asks what shouldn't be there in an answer, which is a useful feature.

Why did your organization buy this tool, and how long have you used it for?

The employees of my organization were present at multiple locations, making it difficult to provide in-person training every time. Additionally, whenever the training was planned, there were many no-shows because of different meetings, sales calls, etc. Therefore, we switched to TalentLMS, as it gives employees the flexibility to complete the training at their own pace and time. Some of the safety training sessions were provided through TalentLMS, though product training was still given in-person as it required the display of different products.

What do you dislike about this tool?

There should be an automated reminder to notify employees that their training is pending without sending it through the HR team. It takes time for instructors to adapt more than the learners because many times the instructors have not designed the online course. It is not as effective as in-person training.

How is this tool different than their competitors?

I've not used other training tools and hence can't compare.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

Are the employees and instructors ready to adapt to this? If your organization is looking for something that would help your employees stay engaged while learning, this could be a good option. Are your employees at one location? If yes, you may explore the option of in-person training as well.

How has this tool changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

Not sure as I haven’t used the tool for long.

TalentLMS is a good fit for organizations that have a presence in multiple locations and have employees who are tech-savvy.

I use Bitrix multiple times a week. Some of the key workflows I use it for include:

  1. Manage projects. We are able to create projects and assign them, set deadlines and be able to track the progress.
  2. Instant communication. It has various messaging tools such as video calls, instant messaging, and group chats so one can be able to see and respond to them quickly and at everyone's convenience.
  3. The document-sharing feature enables members to share various documents as well as being able to work on a single document with multiple team members simultaneously. This is by far the best feature for me!
  4. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) has made marketing processes easier and led to better customer relationships.

What do you like about this tool?
  • Better communication through instant messaging, group chats, and video calls. One is in the loop of whatever is going on and gets updates quickly.
  • Document sharing option. Every member can share a document, and other members can work on the same document simultaneously.
  • Better collaboration. This can mainly be attributed to enhanced communication.

Why did your organization buy this tool, and how long have you used it for?

My company was mainly trying to solve issues in relation to collaboration and communication. This has led to increased productivity and improved efficiency. We are able to share documents and properly manage our projects better than before. The tools being offered have streamlined our operations a great deal. I have been using Bitrix for 1.5 years now.

What do you dislike about this tool?
  • It can be a bit expensive compared to other similar tools out there. Having regular discounts would go a long way.
  • Someone who's not familiar with it will have a really hard time navigating through it. A short introductory video of how it works would really help.
  • Technical support varies with the different plans available, and this may cause agitation since the responses they are getting aren't necessarily the ones they're hoping for. I feel like the support should be the same regardless of the package one is using.

How is this tool different than their competitors?

It has an inclusive tool where one can do product management, CRM and communication. This means that my organization wouldn't have to use different software to achieve the same results.

What Instructions should people think about when buying this type of tool?

Pricing. Because there are different plans, one needs to be sure they get a plan that's within their budget.

Ease of use. One needs to make sure that learning how to use it wouldn't be a problem for its members and they'll navigate easily.

How has this tool changed or evolved over time to meet users needs?

I can confidently say that the enhanced features have improved communication and productivity for its members.
